Sauti Sol Win 2014 Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards
Well Kenyan music is finally getting the recognition it deserves and it seems the world loves it. Sauti Sol have won this year’s Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
This is huge since they are the first Kenyan based band to bring the accolade home. They actually beat the likes of Diamond from Tanzania, Davido from Nigeria, Toofan from Togo and Goldfish from South Africa. They are now the only African ambassadors at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
This means they have made into the prestigious Worldwide Act award category as one of the 10 nominees. Fans will have a week to vote and the winner of the category will be announced in Glasgow, Scotland, at a show hosted by Nicki Minaj. Some of the international awards that sauti sol has managed to bag so far include the UK’s BEFFTA Awards, the Museke Online Africa Music Awards and the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards.
