Cabinet Secretary, Najib Balala has once again failed to appear in court for his hearing. Najib Balala was supposed to go in front of the court and explain why he thinks he should not be jailed after failing to release a mineral shipment that had been confiscated but was ordered by the court to be released. Mwangi Njoroge, the state lawyer explained that the Cabinet Secretary could not go to court since he was unwell. This is the third time that Najib Balala has failed to appear in court. The Justice Eric Ogola said that his contempt of court issue will be dealt with in his next hearing scheduled for February 12th.

The law suit was filed by Stema Alloys Enterprises who claimed their goods were wasting away due to the fact that they had been held for more than 40 days. It is Fred Athuok, the company’s lawyer that made it known to the court that Najib Balala had disobeyed orders to have the shipment released.
