According to the Sunday Nation a 22 minute conversation recorded by Ababu
Namwamba’s mobile device was used by the Powers and Privileges Committee of the National Assembly as evidence in the corruption allegations at PAC. The recording was meant to accuse committee members of receiving bribes. In the recording an MP is heard telling Raila Odinga that one of the members of the PAC committee met a senior civil servant at a hotel in Hurlingham last year and collected at least 1,500,000 KSH. Other members are also said to have received payment separately on other instances.

The bribe money was then shared between some of the PAC members. This is with the promise that they would vindicate the said official in their report. At the end of the recording the former prime minister says that most of the problems that the committee is facing stem from MPs’ disorganization. According to Ababu, the origin of PAC’s problems is the Sh2.8 billion confidential expenditure at the Office of the President and a well-planned scheme by Majority Leader Aden Duale.
