The Nyatike MP had just arrived at his Karen home in his car when the incident occurred. As he walked from the parking area to enter his house four armed men who were already in the compound confronted him. He tried to fight back but he was overpowered. He was quickly pinned down with the hooded attackers who all had AK47s. After the attackers left he was quickly rushed to the Karen hospital before being transferred to the Agakhan Hospital. On close observation it was confirmed that he had been hit on the head several times with the butt of a gun which had resulted in his head injuries.
He lost unspecified amount of money and valuables during the attack. The attackers also tried to break into a safe in the house but this bore no fruit. His son and driver were slightly injured as they tried to block the assailants from escaping. As they made away, they shot at Anyanga’s car shattering one of the windows.
The MP has been in the news recently over the saga surrounding the PAC with allegations that some MPS received bribes to alter the report in favour of defense principal secretary Mutea Iringo.
