Here Is Imenti Central Mp Gideon Mwiti’s Version Of The Events That Led To The Rape Scandal
Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti was on Monday questioned by Gigiri Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Daniel Kandie for nearly six hours on the events that had taken place on Saturday. He was then driven away to an unknown destination after talking to journalists and denying the charges leveled against him. Under Kenyan Law rape suspects are usually taken into custody since it is considered to be a very serious offence. It is not clear whether the MP was being transferred to another police station or weather he was being released. Mwiti confirmed having a meeting with the 29-year-old woman but denied raping her at any one given point. The lady had accused him of physically abusing her, forcefully subjecting her to a HIV test and finally committing the heinous act on her.
The doctor, Mwangi Muchiri, who had supposedly taken blood samples from the victim was summoned by the medical board. Dr Muchiri is the owner of Fig-Tree Medical Centre in Ngara and is still conducting his business as usual. When questioned about the allegations facing him and the Mp he said According to him he is a very straightforward man and a very morally upright man. He went on to add that the truth will come out once investigations are completed.
According to the MP’s account, he accompanied the lady to the Pizza Garden Restaurant in Westlands, Nairobi, and they stayed there from 6.30pm to 9pm before they moved to a club on Woodvale Grove. They stayed at the club until 1am on Sunday. They were accompanied by his constituents at the time. He tried to find out whether the lady had reached home safely after their meeting but she didn’t respond. He denied taking the lady to his private office at any point.
