Doctor Mwangi Muchiri was promptly summoned by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board once news broke out that he had forcefully had a HIV test done on a 29 year old woman before she was raped. According to the Board CEO Daniel Yumbya, he was required to shed light on the allegation and his registration status. According to his business card, Dr Muchiri is a qualified, consulting physician, Renal and Intensive Care personnel.
At his place of business, Fig-Tree Medical Centre in Ngara, things are still running as usual and he is still receiving patients. When asked about the allegations by journalists, he was reluctant to give a straight answer. Instead, he stated he was bound by doctor-patient confidentiality and the truth would come out once investigations had been completed. He didn’t seem like he was troubled by the serious allegations leveled against him. He went on to state that he is a very morally upright man and is very straight forward. What the Lady is question is alleging is something that he wouldn’t want anyone to go through.
