KTN’s face of lunchtime news Edith Kimani is set to leave the station where she has been a presenter for 6 years. Her leaving is poetic given that KTN’s reality show “The Presenter season 2” concluded last weekend. Edith is a product of the same reality show and emerged the winner in its first season. The second season brought Michelle Ngele into the spotlight and in many respects she will be seen as a direct replacement of Edith. Coincidentally, Edith was mentoring Ngele on the reality show and it appears that she is passing the torch to her protégé with her exit. Edith is rumoured to be joining German media house Deustche Welle.
Although Edith did not get the same level of attention as the likes of Lilian Muli and Janet Mbugua, her presentation skills were always on point. She will be remembered for her on screen calmness and professionalism, skills that she will now be exhibiting on an international stage. It is amazing how far she has come since her green days after “The Presenter season 1”. It is noteworthy that she kept her name off scandals and publicity stunts that seem to haunt journalists in the mainstream media these days.
