Monica Juma’s nomination to Secretary to the Cabinet was met with strong opposition by members of parliament even though it was through the president himself. She was rejected over what members termed as “inaccessibility” and “bad faith”. This was after she wrote a letter to the Senate and Clerks of the National Assembly to refrain from asking personal favors from her office. The letter which is now online for the public to review is actually very polite. Some Kenyans who were angered by the Mps decision took to social media accounts to express their views on how flimsy and petty Mp’s had become.
As the President goes back to the drawing board to present a difffernet name, Dr Juma will continue in her position as Interior PS. Here is the letter which was addressed to the Senate Clerk, Jeremiah Nyegenye in late October 2014.
