Earlier on in the year the veteran actor had been admitted to Loresho Hospital due to an eye illness. Thanks to the intervention of the Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko, this condition was quickly treated and things seemed to be turning for the better. However, Mr Ojwang disappeared from the scene again and as it seems he must have been suffering in silence as his health deteriorated even further. Sadly, the news of his demise is what has caught the attention of most Kenyans again.

Mzee Ojwang’ is survived by his long time wife, Augusta Wanjiru and two children, Michael Karira and Patricia Njeri.
