Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero put aside his bitter rivalry with the city’s senator Mike Sonko ahead of his graduation at Kenya Methodist University. In what is an unlikely gesture towards the senator, Kidero showered praise on his rival’s latest achievement. He posted how he is proud of the senator’s academic strides. In Mike Sonko fashion, he posted pictures of himself wearing full graduation regalia. It was public knowledge that the senator was seeking a degree in Business Administration as the law required aspirants to attain a certain level of education for them to contest for public office.

He follows in the footsteps of Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, who graduated with a degree in leadership and management from St Paul’s University last year. The former Starehe MP was barred from contesting the Nairobi Governor seat as she fell short of the academic credentials required.

In response, Mike Sonko thanks the governor and addresses him as ‘my friend’, a term that is peculiar in the frosty relationship between the two.
