Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko spent quite a lot of money in paying last respects to his father, Mzee Kioko Kivanguli. The funeral yesterday was occasioned by high profile dignitaries from the political class as well as key sectors in the country. The crowd turned up in large numbers to say goodbye to Sonko’s father. The motorcade which made its way to Mua hills, the final resting place of Mzee Kioko, was made up of 60 luxury cars complete with outriders.
To cap it all, there was live coverage of the event by KTN. All this required loads of money to pull off. It is estimated that Sonko spent Sh 5 million on the live broadcast alone. The activities that took place yesterday could not have happened without labour and this rocketed the cost even further. Calculating all the preparations and events that took place for the burial, you are looking at very hefty sum of money.
