A fresh storm is brewing over a possible conflict of interest involving beleaguered CS Anne Waiguru and a commissioner of the Commission for the implementation of Constitution. Kamau Waiganjo, one of the senior figures at the commission was pictured in a private meeting with Waiguru just days after the CIC obtained a court order suspending impeachment of Cabinet Secretaries. Nandi Hills rebel MP Alfred Keter is leading the charge to impeach Waiguru in Parliament. The NYS scandal in which an eye-watering Sh 791 million was stolen has placed the Jubilee government under the spotlight with pressure piling on the Devolution CS to step aside.
However, Waiganjo brushed off criticism asserting that he has a right to meet anyone watering down the significance with a date with Waiguru. He curtly told journalists that they should talk to the chairman Charles Nyachae on how decisions are made in the commission. Justice Joseph Onguto effectively handed Waiguru a lifeline. A similar attempt to censure the powerful CS failed last year at the hands of MP Mithika Linturi.
