After 7 years at the helm of ‘Sunday Live,’ Julie Gichuru has quit the set. The celebrated news anchor exit has left many of her fans shocked as Ann Kiguta takes the mantle from her. Julie, an established journalist, was one of those at Citizen TV who appeared to be an ‘untouchable’ and no one could ever imagine that she could move on given her star status. ‘Sunday Live’ is among the top weekend news bulletins in the country thanks to the effort of the often polarising Julie Gichuru. It is at this stage that Julie won many friends and acquired foes in equal measure especially on how she interviewed her guests. Her ‘Sunday Live’ platform has ensured she has had run-ins with the likes of Robert Alai and Boniface Mwangi.
Julie confirmed her departure from the bulletin on her social media accounts wishing whoever filled her shoes the best. While she departs from the TV screens, her role at Royal Media Services remains cloudy because she has several programs running under her production company Arimus Media. Ann Kiguta was chosen over Janet Mbugua, TerryAnne Chebet and Lilian Muli for the plum prime time slot on Sunday.
