This Is How Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap Initiative Has Been Hit By A Major Crisis And Is In A Ksh 2 Billion Debt

Maendeleo Chap Chap seems to have hit a rocky patch as contractors and suppliers in Machakos County have decried unpaid dues for their supplies and services. The fast-rising county under the leadership of Alfred Mutua could be in a financial crisis owing to the fact that contractors have not been paid Sh 2 billion. Barclay Mutinda, chairman of Machakos County Contractors and Suppliers Association, lamented how its members have suffered due to delayed payments noting financial challenges and loss of property through auctioning have caused ill-health and death to frustrated contractors.

He demanded the Machakos County government pay the huge Sh 2 billion debt failure to which he promised unspecified action in the next one week. He slammed the county’s leadership for hiring contractors from outside the county to carry on with on-going projects. Mr. Mutinda was quick to note that high-profile projects such as the Machakos People’s Park and Machakos Level 5 hospital are some of those they still owe the government.
