The Lang’ata Police have begun looking into the alleged claims that UON students were on Friday harassed at a popular club along Lang’ata road. The claims come after the University of Nairobi Student leader, Babu Owino claimed that the Club’s bouncers or the security hospitalized two students after beating them to a pulp.
Babu Owino yesterday wrote a letter to the Inspector General of Police requesting to exercise their rights through a peaceful demonstration around the club.
The letter also addresses the speculations of the club assaulting students on various occasions. The letter was copied to the Commanding Officer, Lang’ata Police Station as well as the university’s administration.
The Officer Commanding said they have launched investigations into the matter and they are appealing to those students who were harassed to record statements.
The students have been urged to stay peaceful as it may not turn out to be a peaceful demonstration. However, the police said they would be on high alert.
