Uhuru’s administration has been marred by scandal after scandal and the latest installment lands yet another blow. The 250 billion Eurobond saga that was set in motion after the government received monies to be paid into the Exchequer account could not be accounted for. Irregularities in the Auditor-General’s report containing official records of the Eurobonds receipts set in motion events that climaxed with the former Prime Minister releasing a list of names of the “persons of interest” associated with the saga.
Raila Odinga made good on his threat today when he named the people responsible for the saga in a conference at Serena Hotel. The list includes Henry Rotich the Treasury CS, Kamau Thugge Treasury PS, Joseph Kinyua Head of Public Service, Jairus Nyaoga CBK Chairman, Njuguna Ndung’u former governor of the CBK, Bernard Ndung’u, Patrick Kamau, Moses Muthui and John Birech who all hold posts at the CBK.
KOT blew up giving their opinions in no uncertain terms with the majority of them behind Raila. The hashtag #UhuruEuroThieves has been trending on Twitter followed by raila, @railaodinga, Eurobond and #eurobond with everyone expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of things this far. The Eurobond saga is yet another nail on the regime’s coffin and one that may just seal their fate.
