Godfrey Mwapembwa alias GADO is undisputedly one of the most popular cartoonist in Africa. Most of his fans have been wondering why he left the Nation Media Group. Speaking to John Allan Namu, the founder of African Uncensored, GADO revealed that intricate politics made him to lose his tenure. Namu also took his time to interview Linus Gitahi and Tom Mshindi, the current Group editor to find the truth behind. Although the company showed its willingness to support the leading cartoonist, the new leadership as well as regimes in the East African Countries was not comfortable with his cartoons.
After posting a cartoon showing the former Tanzanian head of state half naked while picking grapes from a group of seven beauties indicating the seven sins that made the president to be kicked out of power, he was asked to take a break. While on leave, he made plans of joining the New York Film School. When he came back, he was told that his contract was not going to be renewed.
