The deportation of Congolese music maestro Koffi Olimide whose real name is real name Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba has left the event organizers with great losses. According to sources, the event organizers are likely to have lost over Ksh. 10 million. In addition to the 10 million the event organizers are reported to have facilitated return air tickets for about Ksh 3 million for Koffi’s 23-member crew.Other costs which may have been incurred include accommodation at the plush Villa Rosa Kempinski hotel and transportation in a fleet of luxurious cars for the crew.
The 60 year old king of Rhumba and Selfie hit maker was handcuffed a few minutes after appearing in a television interview. Olimide was set to perform at the Bomas of Kenya on Saturday but things fell apart after a video allegedly showing him assaulting one of his dancers appeared online.
The arrest of the most celebrated artist came some hours after his plane touched down at Jomo Kenyatta international airport. In the interview, Koffi pointed an accusing finger towards his enemy for circulating video of the incident on social media. It is claimed that he assaulted a female member of his dancer crew who was later identified as Pamela. This is not the first time the Congolese has been involved in controversies while on international tours.
