Rhumba Maestro and Selfie Hit maker Koffi Olomide’s woes continued after he was slapped with an 18-month jail term. The Kinshasa court sentenced Koffi without an option of a fine after he assaulted one of his dancers at JKIA during his tour in the country last Friday. Koffi’s career took a different turn after he was deported with his three dancers. He was set to perform at the Bomas of Kenya only for him to be arrested shortly after a television interview.
The Congolese police arrived at his home and handcuffed him. Reports from Kinshasa indicate that Zakarie Babasawe, an outspoken congressman pushed for his arrest. He filed a petition on behalf of the general public. The congressman questioned why the controversial singer was still a free man despite him causing a series of drama. It is claimed that the congressman parted ways with his friend Koffi after the wealthy artist started belittling him in some of his compositions alongside Cindy Le Coeur, his leader singer.
