The government has done a lot to protect the country from terrorist attacks. This has however not stopped terrorists from attacking innocent citizens. On Thursday evening a suspected Al Shabab militant was shot dead just outside the US Embassy in Gigiri, Nairobi.
According to reports, the man was of Somali origin. He tried to stab a General Service Unit Officer who had been manning the compound’s entrance before he got gunned down. The US Embassy building is currently closed as a security measure.
A 60 day dusk to dawn curfew in Mandera was announced by the government on Thursday. This is because the region had been hit by a total of three terrorist attacks in the last three weeks. The curfew is meant to protect Mandera residents from the terrorists attacks while the defence team is at work trying to do the same.
Joseph Nkaissery, Interior Minister issued the curfew following an Al-shabab attack in a hotel in Mandera where 12 people were killed.
