KTN TV Show host Jeff Koinange is facing the possibility of a legal battle after the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) urged the Kenya Media Council to take action against him. This comes after the widely renowned journalist hosted Nairobi governor aspirants, Miguna and Esther Passaris, on his self-titled show, Jeff Koinange Live. FIDA alleges that Koinange allowed Miguna to sexually assault Esther Passaris on live television.
FIDA Kenya Josephine Mon’gare strongly condemned political aspirant Miguna for his comments that advocated for rape. Also in her press release, Ms Mon’gare asked the government and the electoral body, IEBC, to ensure that women candidates are protected from violence during the upcoming elections.
Ms. Mon’gare further went on to question Mr Koinange’s professionalism, stating that he “allowed Mr Miguna to severally disparage Ms Passaris on a national TV”. She stated that the TV host’s behavior was unacceptable as “The show was not about issues but a personal attack.”
Following the show, there has been public outrage about Miguna’s exchange with Passaris.
