This Is Why The New Sauti Sol’s ‘Melanin’ Video Has Been Banned For Daytime Kenyan Viewers

According to Moral police, Ezekiel Mutua, the new raunchy Sauti Sol Video dubbed ‘Melanin’ is gross and unfit for young Kenyan viewers. In a statement he said that the video would not be allowed to air on local Channels between 5am and 10pm (watershed period) because it is not suitable for general family viewing. Content that is currently suitable for airing during the watershed period is outlined in the Films and Stage Plays Act as well as the programming code for free to air radio and television services in Kenya. The board will not hesitate to take action against any broadcaster who fails to abide by the programming code, he added.

Contrary to misleading rumors, the video has not been completely banned. The board only took action to protect minors after receiving a deluge of public concerns and complaints on the appropriateness of the video for children.

This is not the first time that the board has taken such an action. Three years ago, Sauti Sol’s ‘Nishike’ video faced a total ban on local TV stations over its erotic scenes.

Here is the video in case you haven’t gotten a chance to watch it.
