As the inauguration ceremony was ongoing police officers found themselves in a precarious situation. Chaos immediately erupted after security closed down the stadium gates as it had been packed to full capacity. Police had to deploy teargas canisters and clobber some people as rowdy crowds tried to force their way into the stadium. The stadium has a maximum capacity of 60,000 people. From the looks of things, a number of people have been injured and will need some medical attention.
Uhuru and his deputy are set to be sworn in at the stadium in the presence of a number of dignitaries and heads of state. This will be his second term running as the president of Kenya.
