President Uhuru Kenyatta is no doubt the happiest man in Kenya after his first son Jomo Kenyatta and wife Fiona Achola on Sunday welcomed a bouncing baby girl ahead of his inauguration. Baby Wanjiru, as she was named, becomes the first child of the couple. Achola, the daughter of the late Dr. William Odongo Omamo and niece to Defence Cabinet Secretary, Raychelle Omamo hit the headlines after walking down the aisle with the president’s son in a traditional Kikuyu wedding that enjoyed massive media coverage.
The birth of the child came hours before the Jubilee’s head was inaugurated for his second term in office.
During the ceremony, President Uhuru Kenyatta promised a new dawn for nation following his swearing-in. He called upon Kenyans to resist ethnic division. His remarks were reiterated by his Deputy Ruto who asked Kenyans to maintain peace and embrace unity of purpose.
The event was administered by Judiciary Officers led by Chief Registrar Anne Amadi and Chief Justice David Maraga.
Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Zambia President Edgar Lungu, Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, former Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete, Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and South Sudan President Salva Kiir are among the heads who attended the ceremony
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived after the official swearing in ceremony of the Uhuru.
