Photos and videos of police beating female supporters of National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate, Raila Amolo Odinga have continued to elicit mixed reactions from Kenyans on social media. According to a section of Netizens, police need to be investigated over their conduct during a planned NASA rally at the Jacaranda grounds in Embakasi East. The incidents occurred hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto took oaths of office in a colorful event that attracted heads of state from across Africa and other parts of the world.
Several photos and videos of women on the receiving end have been doing rounds on social media as Kenyans express rage. The police have also been accused of shooting dead a seven-year-old boy in Nairobi’s Pipeline area. The security personnel also lobbed teargas to disperse Jubilee supporters during the Kasarani event, which has not augured well with Kenyans from different regions. The opposition leader has condemned the police over the use of excessive force when handling his supporters.
