NTV viewers were treated to a chaotic scene when Assistant Police Inspector General Charles Owino engaged Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina differed bitterly live on air. The two traded barbs while pointing fingers at each other thereby leading to the discontinuation of the progamme.
Hell broke loose when the Senator and the boss started questioning each other on the limitation of certain rights of Kenyans. The senator asked the assistant IG to explain the recent killings by the police in different parts of the country. The conversation, however, did not go well after they both resorted to a shouting match. The police boss reminded the lawmaker that he has authority, adding that he has no mandate to intimidate him before the public.
The incident comes after police allegedly killed a seven year old boy in an attempt to disperse supporters of the National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga from the Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi East.. Here is part of the conversation:
Charles Owino: Senator, let me warn you.
Ole Kina: You cannot warn me. Why are you warning me, Kwani am I your child?.
Owino: I’m the authority!
Ole Kina: You are not an authority my friend! I’m a lawmaker as well. You can cannot violate my rights.
Owino: But who enforces that law? Who enforces it?
Madowo: Gentlemen… gentlemen… we have a shouting match here… We are gonna take a break because this has become a shouting match.
