Kitui West MP and former Minority Leader Francis Nyenze is dead. Nyenze died at a Nairobi Hospital on Wednesday at around 7.50 a.m. aged 60.
Until his death, Nyenze was among the most powerful politicians not only in the Ukambani but also entire nation. Nyenze, holder of University of Nairobi for his degree in Architecture Design and Development, was appointed Minister for environment by President Moi in 1997.
He was later taken to the Ministry of Heritage and Sports after the reshuffle in 2001. The lawmaker was first elected KANU ticket in 1997 to represent Kitui West Constituency.
The deceased caused a storm in the opposition when he threatened to lead the Kamba nation from the political outfit if the former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo is not fronted for the Presidency in August.
Several leaders have continued to condole with his family following the untimely death. His body is currently at Lee Funeral home.
